DHAKA: Dr. Mohammad Javed Patwary took charge as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).

He took charge from outgoing IGP AKM Shahidul Haque at a program in police headquarters on Wednesday (January 31).

Prior to appointed as IGP, Javed Patwary was serving as the Additional Inspector General of the Special Branch.

He joined the Police force in 1986 as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) through Bangladesh Civil Service (BSC) exams in 1984.
