DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Tuesday (December 12) sentenced four persons to death and another two to life term imprisonment in Rana murder case.

Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 Judge Abdur Rahman Sarder handed down the verdict.

The death-row convicts are—Md Masud, Jahangir Hossain, both from North Jatrabari area under Jatrabari thana, Al Amin alias Alam from Matlab Dakshin upazila in Chandpur and Shafiqul Islam alias Robin from Shunnotengra area under Demra thana.
They are now absconding.   

The life-term awardees—Babla from Noirashpur village under Feni district and Monir Hossain from Shing Adda village under Kachua upazila in Chandpur—were also fined Tk20,000 each. 

Rana, hailed from Demra thana of Dhaka, was found dead in Sunnotengra area on January 10, 2009.

Demra Police Station Sub-Inspector (SI) Abu Kalam filed a case over the murder. 

Later, Masud and Al Amin admitted the crime before the court.
