Millionaire NBR officer through illegal income, says wife

DHAKA: Wife of an official of National Board of Revenue (NBR) accused her husband of embezzling millions of money.
 
The NBR official is Md. Shahid Khan, Assistant Revenue Officer of the Department of Customs and Refund.

Hasina Begum, wife of Md. Shahid Khan, raised the allegation against her husband at a press conference at Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) on Wednesday (November 22).

Hasina Begum alleged that her husband has been doing business of C & F agent in Dhaka Customs House for the last 12 years.

She said that they married in 2007. After marriage, she learns that her husband has three other wives. Though Shahid Khan looks after his three other wives, but she was being neglected.

Shahid borrowed Tk 20 lakhs from her, promising her to give half of the house in her name which was built in Nikunja area of the city in 2008.

Later, he cheated her after issuing the house in his name and another of his wife’s name.

Following their marriage, Shahid Khan married a few other women by means of allurement.

Shahid Khan embezzled millions of money in 2002-03 while working in Rajshahi Hilly Customs Station.

From 2006 to 2010, he embezzled millions from Dhaka Customs House and ICD Kamalapur.

In 2013-14, 20 grams of gold and millions of Taka were too embezzled by him.
 
Hasina said she has no security for her life. Terrorists, supported by her husband, are giving her death treats constantly.

When contacted, Director General of Customs and Refund Wahida Rahman Chowdhury told Banglanews that a written complaint was submitted.

Then, the complaint was sent to the chairman of NBR. Thereupon, Shahid Khan was suspended. An investigation is underway.
