Rajshahi road crash death toll rises to 3

RAJSHAHI: At least three people including a couple were killed as a bus fell into a road-side ditch crushing a motorcycle next to it in Baya para area of Rajshahi on Friday (Nov 17).

Two of the deceased were identified as Khorshed Alam, 40, son of one Arzed Khan of Shadhupara village in Mohanpur upazila of Rajshahi and Shahidul Islam, 40. 

Confirming the matter, Shah Makhdum police station officer-in-charge (OC) Zillur Rahman said some 30 people were injured in the accident happened around 2:45pm. The injured were taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.

Khorshed, who was a bus passenger, died in the evening while undergoing treatment at RMCH. On the other hand, Shahidul, along with his wife and 7-year-old girl were riding on the motorbike during the time of accident. 

The identity of Khorshed’s wife is yet to be ascertained. The daughter is still undergoing treatment at RMCH.   

Following the accident, Baya para college teacher Abdul Hannan said the Naogaon-bound bus plunged into a ditch after its driver lost control over steering. On the other hand, the couple was traveling by a motorbike and got crushed by the bus while it went off road.
