Jordan Queen Rania visits Rohingya refugee camps Jordan’s Queen Rania Al-Abdullah

FROM COX’S BAZAR: Jordan’s Queen Rania Al-Abdullah on Monday (Oct 23) visited the situation of displaced Rohingyas sheltered at the Kutupalang refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar.

Cox’s Bazar district administration told Banglanews that, after her short visit, she left Cox’s Bazar airport in a special flight around 2:00pm.

Earlier on Monday morning (Oct 23), Queen Rania arrived in Cox’s Bazar through Dhaka and went to visit refugee camp by road.

United Nations Refugee Agency (UNHCR) sources said the Jordan Queen came to observe the situation of Rohingyas, who fled into Bangladesh following persecution in Myanmar’s Rakhine State. In the meantime, she has spoken to some Rohingya women and children about the violence they had suffered by Myanmar army and their exodus experience.

Earlier, Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan came to Bangladesh on September 7 and visited the Rohingyas in Kutupalong refugee camps.

However, more than five lakhs of Rohingyas entered Bangladesh after fleeing the barbaric violence in Myanmar’s Rakhine state following an upsurge on August 25 this year.
