DHAKA: The depression over Southwestern part of Bangladesh is moving North and Northwards. Moderate heavy to heavy rainfall has been forecasted at major places of the country Saturday (October 21).

However, the pressure is likely to move in a North and Northeasterly direction further and weaken gradually.

Amid heavy downpour since Friday (October) countrywide including the capital Dhaka, Bangladesh Met office warns in a special bulletin that a possible surge is likely to occur in the Bay of Bengal under the influence of steep pressure as deep convection is continuing over North Bay.

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no. three.

Under the influence of the land depression in the low lying areas of the coastal districts of Cox’s Bazar, Chittagong, Noakhali, Laxmipur, Feni, Chandpur, Bhola, Barisal, Patuakhali, Jhalokathi, Pirojpur, Borguna, Bagerhat, Khulna, Satkhira and their offshore islands and chars are likely to be inundated by wind surge of 1-2 feet height above normal astronomical tide.

All fishing boat and trawler over North Bay have been advised to remain in shelter till further notice.
