TANGAIL: A mugger was killed as an auto-rickshaw crashed him in Kagmari Bridge area of Tangail municipality area Friday (September 15).

The deceased was identified as Mehedi Hasan, 17, a resident of Dighulia area of the municipality town.

Kagmari Police Checkpost Sub-Inspector (SI) Kamal told Banglanews that Mehedi was trying to flee after snatching away money and mobile phones from some passengers of an auto-rickshaw, accompanied with some of his aides, at the night.

Sensing the incident, locals started to chase them.

At one stage, Mehedi died on the spot after falling under the wheel of the auto-rickshaw as it overturned.  

However, the locals managed to catch one of the muggers and later handed over him to police.
