Fresh flood hits Kurigram Boats, banana tree trunks only forms of transportation in some places

KURIGRAM: Kurigram again marooned in floodwater due to incessant rainfall and rise of water levels of all the rivers flowing in the district including Dharla, Brahmaputra, Dudhkumar, and Teesta.

On Saturday (August 12), Dharla River was marked flowing 22 centimeters above the danger level.

Within a span of just 25 days, low-lying areas have become flood affected in the second phase, as Dharla and other rivers’ water have increased.

People are going through undesirable sufferings as many houses have gone under water located in the basin of Dharla River.

With streets submerged, boats and banana tree trunks are only forms of transportation.

Executive Engineer of Bangladesh Water Development Board (BWDB)-Kurigram Shafiqul Islam told Banglanews that water levels of Brahmaputra, Dharla and Teesta have increased, but still flowing below the danger level.
