NARAYANGANJ: Drug peddlers, in an attempt to set free two detainees from police custody, attacked three people including two sub-inspectors (SI) of Fatullah Model thana in Narayanganj.

The policemen sustained injuries in the attack carried out by the drug peddlers with sharp weapons. Later police rescued the injured cops to hospital. However, the miscreants failed to free the detainees from police shelter. 

The detainees are Habibur Rahman Habib, a drug dealer and his buyer Zahid.

The injured police officials are Fatullah Model thana SI Abdul Gaffar and ASI Sohel Rana. The third injured person is the CNG driven auto-rickshaw driver carrying the policemen at the time.  

Quoting the injured SI, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Sharfuddin said the incident took place as the two police officers caught a drug dealer and his buyer red handed after being tipped-off about the matter. 

On Information, extra police force led by ASP Sharfuddin rushed to the spot and rescued the policemen to Narayaganj General Hospital, he added.
