DHAKA: The first hajj flight for the year 2017 (Hijri 1438) carrying 418 pilgrims left here for Jeddah city of Saudi Arabia Monday (July 24).

The fight ‘BG-1011’ of Biman Bangladesh Airlines took off Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 07:55am.

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon and Religious Affairs Minister Principal Motiur Rahman saw off the pilgrims of the inaugural flight at the airport.

Prior to the departure, welfare for the country and its people was sought in a special prayer.  

However, Biman is scheduled to operate more three hajj flights Monday. Of them, BG-3011 is set to fly 11:55am, BG-7011 at 07:55pm and BG-0035 at 08:40pm.

On Saturday (July 22), Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the hajj activities at Ashkona hajj camp aiming to facilitate the pilgrims with better journeys.
