Robber shot dead in Ctg gunfight

CHITTAGONG: A robber was shot dead in a gunfight between rivals in Banshkhali upazila of Chittagong Saturday night (July 22).

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 50, hailed from Maddhyam Puisari village in Banshkhali upazila.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain of Banshkhali police station told Banglanews that the gunfight took place in a remote hilly area of Chambol union at around 02:45am, leaving Abdur Rahman dead at Churantamura hill.
 
Police recovered the body of Rahman and sent it to Banshkhali Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors pronounced him dead.
 
Later, the body was sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) morgue for an autopsy, the OC said.

However, police also recovered some arms including guns cartridges, cartridge-peels and machetes from the spot.

The OC further said that the gunfight might was held between the rival groups of the robbers.

A number of cases were filed against the deceased, the OC added.
