JHENAIDAH: Two farmers were killed and another one was injured in a lightning strike in Shailkupa upazila Friday (July 21).

The incident took place in Horihora village in the upazila, at around 9:00 in the morning.

The deceased were identified as—Ratan Molla, 35, and Waz Mondol, 55, from Horihora village.

However, Aqidul, 25, son of one Waz Mondol from the same village was injured in the strike. He was later admitted to Faridpur Medical College Hospital (FMCH). 

Hakimpur union parishad member Badsha Mia told Banglanews that Ratan and Waz were immediately killed in the lightning strike while they were steeping jute stalks amidst a drizzling in the morning. 

Shailkupa Police Station Officer-In-Charge (OC) Alamgir Hossain confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
