DHAKA: Customs Intelligence officials have seized 19 firearms from the freight unit of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate (CIID) director general Dr. Mainul Khan confirmed the matter to Banglanews on Tuesday afternoon (July 11).
He said, earlier on July 9, two pistols were seized from the same spot. The arms were imported by Mrs. Imran Arms and Company. They have imported a total of 58 firearms from Italy.
Bangladesh’s law prohibits importing old and faulty firearms. Customs officials said, of the 58 firearms, 19 were firearms were old and fabricated. So a total of 21 firearms including 16 Walther PP and 5 HK4 brands have been seized according to the law.
