GAZIPUR: At least six people were killed and dozens injured as a boiler of a garment factory of Multifabs Ltd exploded in Kashimpur Nayapara area of Gazipur City Corporation on Monday evening (July 3).

Gazipur Zone Fire Service DAD Akhtaruzzaman told Banglanews that a rescue operation is underway for workers trapped inside the factory. Five bodies were recovered so far and injured are being taken to different nearby hospitals.

Another one succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment in Dhaka Medical College Hospital, sources said.

An eye-witness of the incident and swing operator of another garment factory Al-Amin said fire broke out at the ground floor of the factory right after the boiler exploded with a loud noise.

More units of Fire Service are on the way. The explosion and fire collapsed a portion of the factory.  More casualties and extensive damages are feared.
