CHITTAGONG: Police recovered throat-slit body of an elderly man in Sitakunda upazila on Monday morning (June 26).
The deceased was identified as Shahidullah, 62, a shopkeeper in Barobkunda bazaar area of the upazila.
Sources said that Shahidullah kept the shop opened till late Sunday night (June 25) due to rush on selling on the eve of eid day.
Keeping his son at the shop, Shahidullah left for home at around 02:30am.
Later, his son found him slaughtered besides a workshop in the bazaar at early hours of Monday.
On information, police recovered the body at around 07:00am and sent it to Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for an autopsy, said Sub-Inspector (SI) Tajul Islam.
Muggers might have killed Shahidullah, said the SI.
However, a case would be filed in this connection, he added.
