Youth jailed for sexually harassing school girls

JHALOKATI: A youth was sentenced to one month in jail for sexually harassing school girls in Jhalokati on Thursday noon (June 22). 

The convict is identified as Mohammad Shujan Shikdar, 22, son of one Aftar Ali Shikdar, hailed from Agorbari village of Jhalokati sadar upazila. He is a battery-powered auto-rickshaw driver by profession.

A mobile Court, headed by executive Magistrate Mohammad Moqbul Hossain, passed the order on Thursday (June 22). 
 
According to local and police sources, some youths were taunting three school girls in front of the Jhalokathi Government Women's College. At some point the youths verbally abused them as the girls tried to protest sexual harassment. 

Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) (Sadar Circle) of Jhalokati M M Mahamud Hasan told Banglanews that after monitoring the situation in CCTV cameras, police chased abusers and detained Shujon, but others managed to flee.
