COX’S BAZAR: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a local leader of Sramik League along with huge illegal firearms and ammunitions from a house in Paran Sikdarpara area under Kutubdia upazila of Cox’s Bazar on Thursday (June 22).

The detainee, identified as Manwarul Islam Chawdhury Mukul, 52, is a joint general secretary of local Sramik League.

RAB-7 Senior Associate Police Super Amirullah told Banglanews that, acting on tip-off, RAB conducted a drive in the area and arrested Monwarul. RAB also recovered 6 single-barrel guns, 13 one-shooter guns and 621 rounds of bullets from his house.

Mukul was also involved with local robber groups and conducted extortion and terrorist activates in the area. A case is being filed under Arms Act against him with Kutubdia thana, he added.
