CHAPAINAWABGANJ: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) carried out operations at four houses in Gomostapur and Nachole upazilas in the district suspecting that militants might be hiding there on Wednesday (May 24).
Rab-5 commanding officer (CO) Lieutenant Colonel Mahbubul Alam announced ending of the raids around 11:30 am.
The Rab CO said that they have recovered three foreign pistols, two magazines, eight rounds of bullet, a shooter gun with one round of bullet, a toy gun, and three kilograms of gunpowder in the raids.
Earlier, acting on tip-off, the law enforcers detained three people—Shukuddin, Saiful and Jahangir from Gomostapur upazila and recovered gunpowder and firearms from their possession.
Following information from the trio, later they conducted raids at the houses of one Tanu in Chanpur area of Fatehpur union under Nachole upazila, Ezabul Haque of Chak Pustom village of Gomostapur upazila, Abdus Shukur of Shimultola village and Afzal of Forshedpur village under the same upazila.
Rab detained Tanu in the raid. Details regarding him could not be known immediately.
The operations in the suspected militant hideouts were ended separately between 9 am to 11:15 am, said Rab-5 Chapainawabganj company commander Nur e Alam.
