DHAKA: Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla said that the construction of Tipaimukh Dam won’t start without proper discussion between two countries.
Shringla made the remarks at a meeting titled ‘DCAB Talk’ organized by Diplomatic Correspondents Assosiation, Bangladesh (DCAB) at the National Press Club on Tuesday (May 23).
Shringla said India give importance to the concerns of Bangladesh regarding the Tipaimukh dam even though Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman wanted to build this dam in the interest of Bangladesh.
“Teesta water sharing deal will also be made shortly. However, management on water sharing of other rivers aside from Teesta is also necessary.”
Moreover, the high commissioner said both countries will consider the much-talked about Ganges Barrage project in an optimistic manner before construction of the barrage begins.
