CHAPAINAWABGANJ: The crime scene unit of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has sealed off the militant den at Shibpur village in Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj after recovering the four dead bodies.

The bodies were recovered from the scene around 2:45 pm and sent them to Chapainawabganj sadar hospital for autopsy.  

CID entered the house around 9:45 am on Friday (April 28) morning. They have also are searched the place for possible hidden explosives. 

CID also collected evidence from the scene and DNA samples of the three unidentified deceased militants whose bodies were mangled beyond recognition. Only one of them has been identified as Rafiqul Islam alias Abu.

CID is working to identify the bodies. Primarily they suspect that of the four bodies, two of them are absconding militants from Jhenaidah. 
 
On the other hand, Fulsana Begum, mother of a deceased militant Rafiqul Islam alias Abu, have wished to take back her son’s body for burial if authority permits.

However, Chapainawabganj Police Super (SP) TM Mujahidul Islam told Banglanews that the bodies will be recovered from the scene first. Then autopsies will be performed. The question of handing them over to relatives and burial will come later.

Earlier, on Thursday evening (April 27), SWAT team has ended the ‘Operation Eagle Hunt’ in Chapainawabganj where four militants were found dead.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) of police of Rajshahi range M Khurshid Hossain said that SWAT handed over the militant den to police. Now the police and the bomb disposal unit will search the residence, he said.

A joint team of the SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics), the CTTC (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) unit, armed police battalion (APBn) and police conducted the drive in the militant den.

The law enforcers cordoned off the militant den since Wednesday morning.

Later, the SWAT began the ‘Operation Eagle Hunt’ on Wednesday evening (April 26). The operation continued till Thursday evening.

During the operation, a woman and a child were rescued from the house. They were taken to the hospital.

The intelligence sources said that the woman name is Sumaiya, 35. She is wife of militant Rafiqul Islam alias Abu. Sumaiya received injury during operation.
