NOAKHALI: A man has been beaten to death by neighbors at Hatiya upazila in Noakhali over a trivial incident.

The deceased was identified as Gias Uddin, 52, a resident of Sukhchar village under Jahajmara union of the upazila.

The incident took place at the village at about 9:00 am on Sunday (April 23).  

Locals said that Gias arranged drainage for his home by cutting a road. Neighbor Sourab Mia engaged in debate with Gias over the issue. At one stage, Sourav became enraged and along with family members beat Gias.

Seriously injured Gias was taken to the Hatiya Upazila Health Complex where the on duty physicians declared him dead.

Officer-in-charge (OC) of Hatiya police station Abdul Mazid said that they recovered the body and sent it to the Noakhali General Hospital for autopsy.
