DHAKA: The popular social network- ‘Facebook’ will be blocked in the country as soon as the government makes a directive in this regard.    

Chairman of the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Dr Shahjahan Mahmood said this while talking to journalists after a function held at a hotel ain Gulshan in the city on Tuesday (March 28).   

Edotco, a telecom tower company, arranged the function on the occasion of unveiling mobile tower built with bamboo.  

About the High Court’s directive that asked to submit a report about radiation of cell towers by April 10, the BTRC chairman said that they would submit the report in the stipulated time.

“We will find out the rate of radiation of mobile tower of different operators. If it is high than the fixed rate of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), we will take legal action. During receiving license, the operators had promised in written not to overcome the rate of the ITU,” he said.
