DHAKA: Bangladesh government approved the Road Transport Act 2017, authorizing 6 months of imprisonment for driving without a license or Tk 50,000 fine or both.

The cabinet led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has made the approval on Monday (March 27).

The road transport act also includes at least eighth grade education for a mandatory for all drivers and bar on mobile phone use while driving. Driver using phone will be penalized for one month imprisonment and Tk 5,000 fine.

After the meeting, Cabinet Secretary Mohammad Shafiul Alam made the disclosure to journalists.
