13 hostages rescued from Gulshan restaurant 

FROM GULSHAN: At least 13 hostages including one foreigner were rescued during Army commando operation at Holy Artisan Restaurant in Gulshan of Dhaka on Saturday (July 2) morning.

About half-an-hour earlier, a specialized team of Bangladesh Army started commando operation to end hostage standoff. Later gunfire and explosions heard at that time.

Meanwhile, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), Police, SWAT, BGB and other law enforcing agencies’ members are kept as striking force on the spot.

Earlier, Army team entered the restaurant adjacent area on 11 Armed Personal Carrier, 16 jeep and three vans.

Earlier on Friday night, two police officials were killed and 10 others injured as terrorists charged grenade and opened fire on them in Gulshan diplomatic zone. 

The diseased are Banani police Officer-in-Charge Salauddin and Assistant Commissioner of Detective Branch of Police Rabiul. 

Gunmen stormed a restaurant named Holey Artisan Bakery on Road 79 in the Dhaka’s diplomatic district and taken 30 people at 8pm, Police said.
