PEC, Ebtedayee exams begin

DHAKA: Primary Education Completion (PEC) and Ebtedayee examinations-2017 have begun on Sunday (November 19).

The examinations will continue till December 16.

The number of PSC examinees is 28,04,509 while 2,91,566 students are supposed to sit for Ebtedayee examinations this year.

On the first day, Primary and mass education minister Mostafizur Rahman was scheduled to visit the exam centers in Motijheel Ideal Government Primary School.

Of the total PSC examinees, 12,99,985 are male and 15,04,524 female while among the Ebtedayee examinees 1,53,152 are male and 1,38,414 female students.

The number of this year's examinees is 1,34,213 less than the previous year.

The examinations are being held in 7,194 centers, including 11 centers abraod.

PEC examination system was introduced in 2009 while Ebtedayee examination system in 2010 with a view to ensure quality education.

Besides, as many as 3,332 specially-abled examinees are attending the tests. They will be given extra 20 minutes for answering.
