DHAKA: The authorities of the Dhaka University have issued an order, making compulsory of the use of the Bengali calendar (i.e. date, month) simultaneously with Gregorian calendar in official work.

Registrar Office of the university issued a notification in this regard on Thursday (April 13).

In the notification, it was said that the Dhaka University had initiated the historic Language Movement and played vital role to make the movement a success.  

The university is still now playing pioneering role in exercising and promoting of Bengali language, literature, Bengali culture and tradition. In succession of that, the university authorities have decided to use of Bengali calendar (i.e. date, month) in all the official work of the university as the unique bearer of Bengali tradition.
