DHAKA: Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) singed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with tech giant Microsoft on 'Government Security Program' (GSP) in order to detect cyber threats and ensure national security.  

BCC National Data Center Director Tarek M Barkatullah and senior Microsoft Director DCU Mark Eastbarg signed the agreement on behalf of respective organizations at the auditorium of BCC in city’s Agargaon on Wednesday (October 10).

Bangladesh Computer Council is operated under government’s Department of Information and Communication Technology.

Under the agreement, Microsoft's Digital Crime Unit (DCU) will provide necessary information to the Computer Incidence Response Team (CIRT) of Cyber Threat Intelligence of Bangladesh.
Besides, BCC will get help to identify the security concerns and learn about the upcoming risks through different steps.

In phases, it will help to strengthen national security and protect Digital Bangladesh, where every citizen and organization will be free from cyber threats.

The council is also working to establish accident management capability on the national cyber security in Bangladesh.

Bangladesh Computer Council aims to manage cyber security of e-Governance network and related infrastructure of Bangladesh government.

Telecommunications and Information Technology (ICT) Minister Mustafa Jabbar and Microsoft's South Asia New Market President Suk Hoon Chia, Sonia Bashir Kabir Managing Director of Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal, Bhutan and Laos and other senior officials were also present.
