Team India getting comprehensive white Wash in two matches test series against New Zealand in New Zealand following a three matches ODI series has raised concerns about sudden slump of form of team India. The brand of cricket Virat Kohli led team India consistently produced over the past few years in all formats at home and on tour almost established them to invincible standings. But on this current New Zealand they looked vulnerable even in the five matches T20 series where they white washed the home team. Host New Zealand lost two of the 5 matches in super overs after the matches ended tied. True India missed Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawanin test series. But even then there was no reason why India could not create any contest in the two tests. One, two or few players may not perform in some innings but why the team as a whole played so poorly? Hope team think tank would carry out extensive soul searching and India would bounce back in not too distant future.

While discussing this let us not forget about out of the box excellent performance of New Zealand. They made the number one ICC ranked test team a pedestrian. They crushed Team India in the second test at Hagley Oval in a little over two days. The most formidable Indian batting crumbled like cookies in both the innings. Arguably the best batsman in all format Virat Kohli spent night mares at the wicket in all four innings. On wickets where Tim Southee, Boult, Wagner and rookie Jamieson had roller coaster ride over team India, Bumrah, Sami could not consistently impress. In New Zealand condition tourists from Indian subcontinent always struggle. Thatthat alone can not justify the miserable performance of team India still sitting pretty on top of the table of Test Championship.

Let us talk about Christchurch Test played at Hagley Oval. Spurred by the success of New Zealand Bowlers Wagner was drafted back to the team going for four quality pacers and Colin de Granhomme for the test. The tall lanky new sensation Kyle Jammieson had added new gun powder to Black Cap arsenal.

Winning the toss Kane Williamson justifiably opted to bat and ran into immediate success as MayankAgarwall was trapped right in front early. Cheteswar Pujara joined Parthiv Shaw . These two defying very hostile and incisive four prong attack produced the best partnership of the series for India adding 50 runs in the second wicket. But introduction of Jamieson extracting extra bounce along with prodigious swing change the entire complexion. Southee complemented the rookie with his uncanny brilliant control. Shaw, Kohli and Pujara were perished in no time. India from a zone of comfort decimated quick. Even then Viharit resisted to the best of his ability. India for the first and the only time of the series could cross 200 and had three scores of 50 and above (Shaw 54, Pujara 54 and Vihari 55) . Jamieson again took 5 /45, Southee 2/38 and Boult with 2/89 were other two crafty allies of Jamieson. India could post 242 their highest score of the series.

The wicket had lot of swing and seam movement. Still Indian pacers were not finding right length and line to unsettle Kiwi openers Latham and Bundle on day one as they produced 66 for the opening partnership. But on day two Indian Shami and Bumrah bowled well in tandem and could get New Zealand all out for 235. It was again Jamieson scoring 49 in the late order which took home side to hand shaking distance of the tourists. Shami took 4/81 and Bumrah took 3/62.

But in the second Innings once again Boult and Southee produced excellent exhibition of pace and swing bowling. Indian batting crumbled like cookies. 7 batsmen could not even reach double figure .Kohli looked pathetic could reach 14 and wasted unnecessarily a DRS. India got bundled out for 124 requiring home team 132 to win. New Zealand cruised to very impressive test and series win losing 3 wicket within the first session of day three. India got comprehensive white washed. An experience India has not tasted for a long time.

We are sure BCCI will carry out extensive post mortem and not only batting of the team including V Kohli but also his leadership will come under scrutiny. His on the field harshness and off the field, media handling may also come under review. But India cares less.
