India seals T20 series with 30-run win

DHAKA: Deepak Chahar's world-record six-wicket haul helped India to a 30-run against Bangladesh to clinch the T20I series in Nagpur on Sunday (Nov 10).

Chahar, a medium-pace bowler playing in just his seventh T20 for India, finished the match with a hat-trick as Bangladesh were bowled out for 144 in 19.2 overs chasing 175 for victory.

Bangladesh's left-handed opener Mohammad Naim made 81 and put on 98 runs for the third wicket while Mohammad Mithun added 27 runs. But the rest of the batting faltered in the chase.

Chahar became the first Indian to get a T20I hat-trick when he removed Shafiul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman and Aminul Islam over his last two overs to close off the Bangladesh innings.

Chahar went past Sri Lanka's Ajantha Mendis, whose figures of 6-8 against Zimbabwe in 2012 were the previous best in a men's T20 international.

Brief Score:

India 174 for 5 (Iyer 62, Rahul 52, Sarkar 2-29) beat Bangladesh 144 (Naim 81, Chahar 6-7, Dube 3-30) by 30 runs
