DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina congratulated Bangladesh Cricket Team on its hard-earned victory against Zimbabwe and also appreciated Afif Hossian for his outstanding performance. 

Bangladesh won by three wickets against Zimbabwe in the opening match of the triangular T20I series at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on Friday (September 13).

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan Papon told reporters after the match.

BCB president said: “Prime Minister phoned during the game. She said: 'What is happening? Why is this happening?’ She seemed worried then. Then, when Afif went to the field and saw his performance and asked: ‘Why didn't he go earlier?’ I never saw him before.’ I said, Apa he is relatively new. He is only 19 years old. He was supposed to play at five. However, it does not matter where he played. Well played. She said – ‘he played well played, I saw his performance. '”

“Immediately after the game, prime minister expressed her anxiety over phone. Later, I managed to connect her to Afif Hossian and Shakib Al Hasan,” BCB president also said
