Bangladeshi youths reach tri-series final

DHAKA: Bangladesh U-19s have confirmed the final of the tri-nation series in England after beating the hosts by 72 runs. India is another team of the series.  

Sent into bat, Bangladesh youths bundled out scoring 224 runs in 47.1 overs. Tanzid Hasan clinched century (117) while Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Towhid Towhid Hridoy have scored 41 and 31 runs respectively.

Chasing the poor target, England U-19s lost all wickets scoring 152 runs in 39 overs. Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Rakibul Hasan bagged three wickets each while Shahin Alam and Mrittunjoy Chowdhury scalped two of wickets.

With this win, Bangladesh are at the top of the table with 9 points in six matches. This is their fourth win. India are ahead with 5 points in 5 matches. England are at the bottom of point table with only 2 points.

Earlier, they defeat India U-19s by 2 wickets in a rain affected game at the Toby Howe Cricket Ground, Billericay, England on July 30 after beating England by 7 wickets in the prior match on July 28.  

Each team are set to play eight matches in the tri-series and will face each other four times.

The top two teams will play the final of the tournament at Hove on August 11.
