Journalist Ajay Barua no more

DHAKA:  Dainik Sangbad sports editor Ajay Barua, who was in England covering the ICC Cricket World Cup, passed away at the age of 70.

He has been undergoing treatment at Saint Berts hospital in London for 12 days after falling sick. Later, the prominent journalist was shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital as his condition deteriorates.

Lastly, the well-known sports journalist breathed his last at the hospital on Friday (July 12), said Chief Reporter Salam Zubayer, of the Dainik Sangbad.

The process is underway to bring his body to home, he added.

In 1974, he joined the bangla daily and associated with sports journalism for five decades.

Before sports journalism, he was an athlete. He achieved ‘Blue’ for his contribution to sports in the University of Dhaka. He was also the sports secretary of Jagannath Hall.
