BFF Women wing chairman Kiron sent to jail

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Saturday (Mar 16) sent Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) Executive Committee member and Women’s Football Committee Chairman Mahfuza Akhter Kiron to jail in a case filed over derogatory comments on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court Judge Abu Sufian Noman issued the order after rejecting a bail plea of Kiron.

She was produced before the court, in the afternoon.

Motijheel Police Station GRO Sub-Inspector Jalal Uddin confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

In the morning, police arrested Kiron from the capital’s Dhanmondi after she allegedly made derogatory comments on Prime Minister, BFF, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Bangladesh football organizers at a press briefing at BFF Central Office on Mar 8.

BCB former joint secretary Abu Hasan Chowdhury Prince lodged a defamation case against her with the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Tuesday (Mar 12) in which a arrest warrant was issued for Kiron.
