DHAKA: As admire pour in from whole cricket world to Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal for his valiant efforts of playing with a fractured wrist against Sri Lanka, Tiger Captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza too came up to praise his ‘courageous’ colleague.

“I think the word for Tamim is that 'people should always remember him', the way our seniors are performing, it's really promising,” Mashrafe told the post-match press conference after humiliating Sri Lankans by 137-run.

“Thanks to Mushfiqur and Mithun. Losing two wickets early is always pressure, but the way they batted it's nice to see,” Mashrafe lauded the helmers.

After being hit on the left wrist by Sri Lankan pacer Suranga Lakmal in the second over of the 2018 Asia Cup opener, Tamim Iqbal‘s Asia Cup campaign was cut short when scans revealed that he had fractured his wrist.

He has been ruled out of the reminder of the tournament and would be out of action for at least six weeks. He was spotted with a sling after being retired hurt for two.

On the field, Bangladesh, after their early struggle, were put back on track by the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim but he kept losing partners and when Mustafizur Rahman got out for 10,that seemed to be the end of the Bangladesh innings at 229.

Tamim padded up and a cast on his left wrist, and batting gloves tapped to it, walked out to support Muhsfiq and valiantly fought through the pain to play out one delivery with one hand and helped Bangladesh finish at a competitive total of 261.

With Tamim on the other end, Mushfiqur played some lustrous shots. The duo added valuable 32 runs for the last wicket as Bangladesh came back to the hutch with some momentum and confidence on their side.

Mushfiqur Rahim's sublime 144 hauled Bangladesh kicking and screaming to 261.
