DHAKA: The by-elections to Bogura-1 and Jashore-6 constituencies will be held on July 14.

The Election Commission (EC) took the decision in an urgent meeting in afternoon, said EC secretary Md Alamgir to Banglanews on Saturday.

Voting to the two parliamentary seats, scheduled to be held on March 29, were postponed due to coronavirus situation, he said.

The commission secretary also said there is no need to submit any nomination papers further. Candidates will resume their activities from where the election was postponed, he added.

The Bogura-1 and Jashore-6 constituencies fell vacant following the deaths of ruling party lawmakers MPs Abdul Mannan and Ismat Ara Sadique respectively.
