UPDF man shot dead in Rangamati

RANGAMATI: An activist of a faction of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was gunned down by miscreants in Rangamati on Wednesday (Feb 19) morning.

The incident took place at Banduk Bhanga union under Sadar upazilla around 10:00 am.

The deceased was identified as Sumon Chakma, 35, an activist of UPDF (Proshit group). 

According to locals, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Mohammad Sufiullah said a gunfight took place between two groups of UPDF men over establishing supremacy, leaving Sumon dead on the spot

Rangamati Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC) Meer Zahedul Islam told Banglanews that being informed, police are on way to the spot. It would take time to reach the remote area, he added.
