Casino business: Enamul, Rupon remanded for 4-day

DHAKA: A Dhaka court on Tuesday (Jan 14) placed Gendaria thana Awami League (AL) vice-president Enamul Haque Enu and his brother Rupon Bhuiyan on a four-day remand for their alleged link with casino businesses.

The court also placed their close aide Sunny Mostafa on a three-day remand in the same case.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury issued the order after police produced them before the court with a ten-day remand prayer for each.

Earlier on Monday (Jan 13), the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police arrested them in Keraniganj, Dhaka. The CID also seized 12 mobile phones and Tk40 lakh from their possession.

According to police, Enamul Haque has been the director of Dhaka Wanderers Club and vice-president of the Awami League's Gandaria unit, while his brother Rupom Bhuiyan is the joint general secretary for the same area.

They remained absconding since law enforcers raided their house at Gendaria in September last year and seized 8,072 grams of gold and Tk 5.5 crore in cash.

Four money-laundering cases were filed against them.
