JCD leaders attacked on DU campus

DHAKA UNIVERSITY:  Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader was attacked allegedly by some leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) on Dhaka University campus on Monday (September 23) noon.

The incident took place on Monday (September 23) at around 12:30 pm at the University Hakim Chattar and TSC.

Eyewitnesses said Iqbal Hossain Shyamul, general secretary of the Chhatra Dal, came to interview on a private TV channel at the campus premises. At that time, Sanjit Chandra Das, along with seven or eight leaders-activist, asked him to leave the area. 

Shortly after they moved to the TSC, 50 followers of Sanjit, carrying rod and sticks, beat the Chhatra Dal leaders, JCD men alleged.  

Later, Anisur Rahman, who is university correspondent of Student Journal was attacked allegedly by BCL leaders-activists while discharging his official duty, witnesses said.

When asked, DU Chhatra League President Sanjit Chandra Das denied allegations of an attack. He told Banglanews that he was staying in the central library at the time.

Chhatra Dal general secretary Iqbal Hossain Shyamul said, "We have been attacked under the leadership of the president of DU unit Chhatra League.  During this attack, our mobile phone and bikes were taken away. We are demanding justice.”
