BCL to work under Hasina’s guidance: Al Nahian

DHAKA: Al Nahian Khan Joy, new acting president of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), has vowed to work under the guidance of its organizational leader and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He revealed such a plan while talking to Banglanews on Sunday (September 15).

Nahian said Bangladesh Chhatra League is the organization formed by Bangabandhu. We will work under the guidance of Sheikh Hasina in a bid to build the Golden Bangla as dreamt by Bangabandhu. In order to carry forward the activities that AL president has pledged to transform Bangladesh into a hunger-free one, BCL family will do all the activities being united.

Al Nahian Khan Joy, a law student at Dhaka University, served as law secretary before becoming the first vice-president of the Chhatra League. Prior to this, he served as General Secretary of the Chhatra League at Shaheed Sergeant Zahurul Haque Hall.

Barisal's son Nahian Khan Joy is the grandson of Mosharraf Hossain Khan who was a freedom fighter. His father, Abdul Alim Khan, is well-known in Barisal division as a distinguished social worker. Former BCL leader Abdul Alim was the founder and general secretary of Dhaka's Greater Barisal Chhatra Samiti in the 1980s.

Earlier on Saturday (September 15), Al Nahian Khan Joy, first vice-president of Chhatra League, has been appointed as acting president of the ruling party's student wing.

Lekhak Bhattacharya, first joint general secretary, will take the charge of acting general secretary.

Prior to that, Rezwanul Haque Chodhury Shovon and Golam Rabbani stepped down as Chhatra League president and general secretary respectively, in face of piles of criticism and controversies drawn by their leadership recent days.
