JHALOKATHI: Police detained 16 Jamaat leaders and activists, including district Jamaat secretary through a special raid in Jhalokathi.

They were detained from a residence in the Shitlakhola area of the district municipality on Friday (September 6)

Police said local Jamaat-e-Islami leaders sit in a secret meeting at AGM Mohiuddin Khokon’s place

A team of Sadar Thana police detained them after being reported that a plan was was being hatched to commit act of sabotage.

Police also arrested the owner of the residence and former AGM Mohiuddin Khokon of Janata Bank.

Upon primary interrogation, Jamaat leaders confessed to holding a meeting. Police filed a case under the Special Powers Act, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Jhalokoti MM Mahmood Hassan told Banglanews
