Faruk murder: Sayedee among 104 accused indicted

RAJSHAHI: Some 104 accused, including Jamaat leader Moulana Delwar Hossian Sayedee, were indicted in the murder case of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activist of Rajshahi University unit Faruk Hossain.

Through this, the trial of the gruesome murder has began after nine years of the incident.
During the indictment order, condemned war criminal Moulana Delwar Hossian Sayedee was produced before the court. 

In last week, he was taken to Rajshahi central jail secretly and taken to the court on Thursday (July 25) amid tight security.

Earlier on 28 July in 2012, the-then Officer-in-Charge of Rajpara Police Station and also the investigation officer of the case Zillur Rahman submitted charge-sheet before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court in Rajshahi accusing 110 Jamaat-Shibir men including Jamaat leaders Motiur Rahman Nizami, Ali Ahsan Mujahid and Delwar Hossain Sayedee.

Earlier on 8 February 2010, Faruk Hossain, a final year student of the Mathematics Department and also RU BCL hall unit activist, was reportedly hacked to death by Islami Chhatra Shibir men, student wing of Jamaat.

Faruk's body was found in a manhole beside Shah Mukhdum Hall on Feb 9, 2010. 

The police and BCL claimed that pro-Jamaat Islami Chhatra Shibir activists had killed him and hid the body inside the manhole.

BCL's university unit general secretary Majedul Islam Apu filed a murder case with Motihar Police Station against 35 identified and some 15 to 20 anonymous Shibir activists.
