DHAKA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed his deep shock and sorrow at the death of Jatiya Party Chairman and former president HM Ershad.

In the message, the BNP leader prayed for salvation of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to Ershad's bereaved family members.

90-year-old former military ruler HM Ershad died at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) here on Sunday (July 14) morning.

He breathed his last at 7:45am.

He was suffering from various old age complications including low hemoglobin count, liver complications, and lung and kidney infections.

He will be buried with state honours at Banani Military Graveyard in Dhaka Tuesday (July 16), under Army supervision.
