DHAKA: Married persons cannot be candidates for council as its schedule was announced to elect a new committee of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal-a student wing of BNP.

The schedule of council was announced at a press conference at BNP’s central office in city’s Naya Paltan on Sunday (June 23).

“Voting will take place only for the posts of president and general secretary on July 15,” BNP leader Shamsuzzaman Dudu, a member of the election committee formed for the council of JCD, briefed media.

In response to a question, he said: “Married people cannot be candidates for council, because they are no longer students.”

Election Commission, selection and appeal committee has been formed for this purpose. The voter list will be announced in phases, Shamsuzzaman Dudu also said.
