DHAKA: BNP Secretary for International Affairs Barrister Rumeen Farhana took oath as an MP of the 11th Jatiya Sangsad.

She was sworn in by JS Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at the latter's office Sunday (June 9).

JS Chief Whip Nur E Alam Chowdhury, Whip Iqbalur Rahim and Whip Abu Sayeed Al-Mahmud Swapon and Captain (retd) AB Tajul Islam attended the ceremony.

JS Secretariat Senior Secretary Dr Zafar Ahmed Khan directed the ceremony.

Barrister Rumeen Farhana has become the lone MP from reserved seat for women, to represent BNP at the 11th JS, after being elected uncontested.

Earlier, seven BNP candidates were elected in 2018 national polls. Of them, six took oath as MPs. As per the Election Act, the party was allocated one of the women's reserved seats.
