DHAKA: Awami League General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is being provided with Iftar as per jail code.  

Obaidul Quader came up with this statement, in response to a query posed by reporters, in a meeting on progress of metro rail site office construction project in Agargaon of the city on Wednesday (May 29).

Regarding the issue of allocation for Iftar at Taka 30, he said: “I don’t think people have a huge demand for Iftar. It is unexpected to do politics on it. However, we can appeal to the concerned officials if Khaleda Zia has more demand. Khaleda Zia is a convicted criminal. She is being given Iftar as per jail code.” 

Recently, allocation for a BNP-organized Iftar party was Taka 30. Date, water, peyaju, beguni and muri were on the menu.
