DHAKA: Awami League Acting General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif urged people to not feel reluctant to go to the shelter centers to stay safe from the danger of cyclonic storm Fani.

He also asked all to not get panicked. 

"All sorts of preparations have been taken to face the disaster. Do not get panicked over cyclone Fani," he said.

Hanif made the urge at a meeting of Awami League secretaries held at Awami League president's Dhanmondi political office Friday (May 3).

Along with local administration, Awami League leaders and activists will stand by the affected to face Fani, he added.

Monitoring cells were formed of administration and party leaders and activists, in this regard, he added. 

Awami League Publicity Affairs Secretary also Information Minister Hasan Mahmud, among others, attended the meeting.

However, cyclone Fani is likely to make landfall in Khulna and adjoining southwestern part of the country by midnight, said a Met office bulletin.
