DHAKA: Convicted BNP chief Khaleda Zia on Monday (April 1) was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) hospital from the old central jail in Nazimuddin Road of Old Dhaka, for treatment.

The motorcade, carrying the ailing BNP chairperson, reached BSMMU at 12:36pm after leaving the prison at 12:20pm.

In the morning, her necessary things were carried to the hospital.

“Khaleda Zia has agreed to receive treatment at the BSMMU. We have everything readied,” Dhaka Central Jail Jailer Mahbubul Islam told Banglanews.

BSMMU Director Brig Gen AKM Mahbubul Hoque said necessary preparations were made for her at the hospital.

Cabin 621 and 622 were allocated for Khaleda Zia, said sources from the hospital.

Earlier, Khaleda Zia repeatedly expressed her unwillingness to go to the BSMMU for treatment.

The BNP cheif landed in the old central jail in February 2018 in a graft case.
