Ulama Dal president Malek passes away

DHAKA: BNP’s associate body Jatiyatabadi Ulama Dal president Hafez Abdul Malek passed away at a city hospital early on Tuesday (March 26). He was 68.

Abdul Malek, who has been suffereing from cancer for long, breathed his last at Islami Bank Hospital in city’s Kakrail area at dawn, said Shairul Kabir Khan, advisor of BNP chairperson. 

The president of Ulama Dal left behind two sons and three daughters, a host of party men and well-wishers to mourn his death. 

His first Namaz-e Janaza was scheduled to be held in front of BNP’s Nayapaltan central office around 11:00am.

Later, he will be buried at his family graveyard in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur followed by second Janaza at his village. 

Senior party leaders, including BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed deep shock at the death of Abdul Malek.
