DHAKA: A leader of Swecchasebak League and his wife sustained severe burn injuries as an air-conditioner exploded at a building in Uttara sector-3 of the capital city Monday (Mar 18) night.

The couple were admitted to the Burn & Plastic Surgery unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

They are—Alamgir Hossain Bhuiyan, 50, president of Airport thana unit Swecchasebak League and his wife Bilkis Farzana Baby, Uttara West thana unit Mohila Awami League organizing secretary.

Uttara West Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Ali Hossain Khan confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

The AC blasted from an electric short-circuit, he said.

The couple sustained 95% burn injuries to their bodies each, added the OC quoting physicians.
