NARSINGDI: Two persons were killed and three others injured in a clash between two factions of ruling Awami League (AL) in Raipura upazila early on Tuesday (Mar 19).

The deceased were identified as Iqbal Hossain, 30, Amanullah, 27, inhabitants of Mirzachar in the upazila. 

Supporters of Mirzachar UP chairman and Faruk Islam, son of Union unit AL General Secretary Firoz Mia locked into clash to establish their supremacy in the area. 

Mozaffar Hossian, officer in charge of Raipura police station, said all the deceased and injured are the supporters of Mirzachar UP chairman Zafar Iqbal. 

Additional police have been deployed to thwart further untoward incident, he added.
